About Michael J. Hamilton, Sr.
beginnings...
The first song I learned on the guitar was Rocky Mt. High… I was 11 and was fascinated with the picking. Another kid named Bobby McGhee – no kidding – taught me the chords. It took me about 6 months, practicing once a week for about 2 hours each time – to get good with it. That first 6 months released a world of passion that changed me forever.
The ability to sing and play is not something I ever really thought I was all that great at – but the fulfillment inside is indescribable. From 13 years old, until about 17 – I actually played like crazy – mostly John Denver. I played in clubs where you were supposed to be over 18 – but had a fake ID and got in. Nothing connected with me like his songs. Now, some 30+ years later, I am finding that I am so grateful to have these memories – and to be allowed to revisit them.
At 17 I was FREE – and the passion of the life I lived was enormous… That is when I flowered, that is when I was born. From racing 140mph down a drag strip, to skiing on the ocean, to having every weekend off from work to play music on the beach – not for the money but for the sheer release and joy of it.
today...
I have worked in the software development side of technology for 26 years; I started with Apple when it was still owned by the 2 Steves...
I have been working w/Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) since the early ‘90’s, mostly on very large enterprise solutions. I have held the enterprise architect title for about 8 years now, but when all is said – I love being in the trenches, developing the solutions as well.
The past 2 years I have spent around the globe with MSFT pushing their new Office SharePoint Server framework and technology – a flagship product from MSFT no doubt, that will on continue to gain momentum and give the likes of IBM and Oracle more banes of pain than words can describe. I love that last part!
My desire to live life on life’s terms is to embrace that passion and live it to the fullest, no boundaries, no pretense, no walls. Doing so can only take me to the point where I want to be and know I can be in my career; more importantly, it is an opportunity to teach, to share, to enjoy that career.

Continuing the Legacy handed down to me - One day.... One family... One Generation
at a time... And life is grand!
